“You cannot be serious!”, was one of the frequent (and more family-friendly!) sayings that tennis legend John McEnroe would shout when he received what he perceived to be an unfair call by a match official.
The cover story of the December 2009 issue of the Atlantic carries the eye-catching caption “Did Christianity Cause the Crash?” This was the question writer Hanna Rosin pursues in her article of the same title. In response to Rosin’s question, my first reaction is to quote McEnroe’s now infamous phrase, “you cannot be serious!”
